Welcome to Lumu Community Based Organization -Child & Youth Care Centre a home to the needy children of communities in Johannesburg South, a suburb in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province in South Africa, We are a volunteer community based organization taking care of disadvantage, underprivileged and suffering children, Through donations, fundraising and awareness campaigns we have a nine point cause program to support these needy children, All locals national and well-wishers abroad you are warmly welcome to join our volunteer community based organization, Your contribution will make a change and big impact on the lives of these children – THE NEXT GENERATION.

Projects
We would like to take the gratitude to all individuals who have devoted and dedicated their life and precious time to make a cause to LCBON turning our community causes into a reality. Some of these causes into a reality. Some of these causes have gone step further as our organization is still new which still lacks donors, volunteers and sponsors apart a few. These causes with some measurable are proudly projects we run at LCBON. These include feeding children, providing education and scholastic materials, providing clothes and home basics. However some couple of causes is not ran as projects at moment due to sponsorship or awareness or volunteering individuals.
Feed A Child
We recently received a couple of offers from willing companies or charity organizations like FoodForward – SA who pledged, promised and fulfilled to supply food parcels to our community organization where they distribute the parcels on monthly basis.. There is a big difference in the lives of the families of these underprivileged where they can’t go a day minus missing a meal. skyrocketed! I made back the purchase price in just 48 hours! I couldn’t have asked for more than this.
Girl Child Sanitary Wear
In our community based organization we have number adolescent girls who are disadvantaged to meet the needs of their girls. With all discomfort they find at school in their period times they end up skipping days of school during these moments. We are currently running a project campaign calling upon all concerned well-wishers, funders, donors to help us raise funds or be it in materialistic items so that we stock up sanitary pads to provide to provide to these girls on a timely period basis
Educate A Child
As the saying goes, education is the key to success. When a child gets good education then the doors for a better future are open. Most of the children mostly in underprivileged families are struggling to attend or go to school. They can’t afford school fees not only that scholastic materials and apart from that not even a uniform which is a school requirement. When we the volunteers at LCBON made an assessment we discovered most of the children end up on streets because they have not got a chance to live a social tender age life of studying and mingling with their fellow kids. In our project campaign of EDUCATE A CHILD we are raising awareness, collecting funds for their education fees. We are seeking donors and funders through different means that include scholarships, bursaries, and direct sponsorship of a child to mention but a few. Among the 140 children in our organization, sixty plus children are in dire need of education help. We are calling you upon, to help us to take these children to school through different ways of contributions.
Assist A Child
It came to our notice whenever we went for community home visiting only to find out that many and a lot of families are having children with disabilities. Most families in communities of Johannesburg South suburbs are low income earners. These children with disabilities. Some of these children are kids with special needs whereas others are children with birth defects while others face mental illness as they grow up. These children most of them are not supported by their families due to financial restraints, while others are neglected because family members lack knowledge of how to take care of them. The children end up traumatized, in pain and helpless and some are face stigma at school by fellow pupils. We decided to create awareness in order to help these children to receive as many forms of help as possible including treatment, counseling, disability necessities like wheel chairs, walking sticks etc… We are currently having fifteen children that need urgent treatment and special care. We are always looking for financial support to take these children for treatment and the children with special needs need special care and life support utilities.
Clothe A Child
Many children in Johannesburg South, can’t afford a single shirt or dress in two year and they and up moving around in rugs. Do you know what this means to a child loss of self-esteem, stigma and loss of self-confidence. These kids end up in wrong schemes ending up in danger and bad behaviors yet they feel they want to look better like other children they meet across. We decided to lobby for well-wishers to donate old or new clothes so that we can provide for the needy children. On a good point it has not been a flawless campaign as many individual have managed to donate to the cause of our project however are begin in numbers and many more still come un every day.
